Pisa is a city with a millenary history, famous worldwide for its Leaning Tower, but it offers much more: historic squares, spectacular churches, elegant palaces, art museums, and natural areas of great charm.

Here is a complete itinerary to discover the most important places in the city.
historic center

The historic center of Pisa is an open-air museum. Among its streets, you can admire ancient buildings, Romanesque churches, towers that tell centuries of history, and refined Renaissance palaces.
Walking along the characteristic streets of Borgo Stretto and Borgo Largo, you can breathe a timeless atmosphere among arcades with authentic charm, artisan shops, and historic cafes.
Another must-see stop is Piazza dei Cavalieri, once the center of Pisan political power and today home to the prestigious Scuola Normale Superiore.

The most famous monument of Pisa, built between 1173 and 1372, was originally conceived as the bell tower of the Cathedral, within the UNESCO heritage site of Piazza dei Miracoli. Its characteristic inclination, due to ground subsidence from the early stages of construction, has made it a world icon, attracting millions of visitors every year.
Standing 57 meters tall and composed of eight levels, the tower is decorated with elegant arches and white marble columns, typical of Pisan Romanesque architecture. To reach the top, you must climb 294 steps along a slightly inclined spiral staircase, a unique experience culminating in a spectacular panoramic view of the city and the Tuscan hills.
Over the centuries, numerous engineering interventions have stabilized it, preventing the risk of collapse. Today, the Leaning Tower of Pisa is perfectly safe and continues to amaze visitors with its unmistakable charm.
